There was huge excitement in Year 1 Pearls last Thursday when the Fire Brigade visited. They met us at the Common and the children were each allowed to have a go at aiming one of the hoses. They all got a bit wet when the firemen increased the water pressure, not that anybody minded! The children then took turns at sitting in the truck and trying on the helmets. Before going back to school they had a go at using the thermal imaging camera, which picked up the outline of the heat left by a handprint. Back at school the firemen talked to the children about fire safety and answered their (many!) questions. Finally they left the children with an activity book, and a secret mission to carry out at home…
