In the Upper School we have been working on portraits this term, focusing on learning the different features and their position in relation to other features on the face. We started with an abstract portrait to build confidence, encouraging the children to draw without a rubber- a wrong mark can always be changed into something wonderful!

We then looked at the work of the artist Julian Opie to inspire us with simplified linear portraits. Finally, we created eccentric and, at times, very comical faces using egg boxes, cardboard and string, then painted them in bold and vibrant acrylic paints
