Our Year 4 Emeralds shone and sparkled at The Royal Academy of Music Museum on Monday. They were invited to test run a new workshop, designed to explore musical instruments – which linked perfectly to our current inquiry of ‘Sound’. Their faces lit up as they were entrusted with handling a century old violin and their hands clapped in delight as they appreciated a personal recital by a ‘Master’ violinist. As well as all this wonder, our pupils were inspired by a showcase of James Blades’ individually designed percussion instruments, to create their own. They were left dazzled by the mechanics found inside a piano, prompting discussion of whether it is an instrument of percussion or string. The debate goes on!
