As part of our learning about Neil Armstrong (the first man on the moon) Reception Diamonds took part in ‘Destination Space’, a workshop at the Science Museum. This meant using our imaginations to travel to the International Space Station. On the way we were set different challenges by Mission Control. The doctor told us we needed to use all our available water so we had to filter dirty water – which the explainer even drank! The controller told us we needed to find the right materials for a space suit. The engineer, the planner and the scientist also set us challenges. Later we explored the hands-on area called ‘The Garden’ and used all our senses and worked together. We continued our learning by making other fascinating scientific discoveries in other galleries around the museum. We ended the day tired but enthralled by all the experiences we had enjoyed.
