On Monday, Year 3 Rubies enjoyed a wonderful visit to Windsor Castle. The sun shone down on us as we marvelled at the height of the battlements, saluted the guards and scampered under murder holes. While tucked away in a secret corner of St George’s Chapel, we got our imaginative juices flowing in a lively creative writing session inspired by the Order of the Garter – the oldest and highest order of chivalry in the world!
We heard about the rigorous life of a young squire while training to become a knight and wrote our own mottos, declaring them loudly from the balcony of St George’s Hall (where we had been granted special access).
To top off an excellent visit, we were given a private tour of the State Apartments where we were invited under the barriers to get a closer look at the rooms’ delights. This was an incredibly unique experience and a very special way to see the castle in all its glory
