At Dolphin, the arts are not an add-on. They are part of what makes an ambitious education feel alive.

Music, Art and Drama give children the chance to discover what they can do- and, just as importantly, who they can become. With specialist teaching, inspiring spaces and opportunities that stretch well beyond the classroom, children are encouraged to develop their talents, take creative risks and find their own voice.

Music has a big presence at Dolphin. Children sing, play, compose and perform from an early age, building musical skill alongside the confidence and discipline that come from mastering something difficult.

There is an impressive breadth of opportunity: individual and group lessons in piano, guitar, violin, viola, voice, woodwind and brass, alongside choirs, concerts, recitals and our much-loved House Music competitions. Our choirs regularly punch well above their weight.

For children who discover a passion for music, Dolphin gives them the space and encouragement to take it further. For everyone, there is the unforgettable experience of making something extraordinary together.

Art at Dolphin is about developing an eye for the world- and the confidence to respond to it.

Children work across a rich range of materials, techniques and disciplines, learning to observe, experiment and turn ideas into something tangible. They are given the freedom to make creative choices and the encouragement to develop an artistic voice of their own.

And their work has an audience. From our annual Art Show to opportunities to exhibit in prestigious venues such as the Royal College of Art, children discover that their ideas and creativity deserve to be seen.

Beyond the curriculum, an ever-changing programme of clubs gives children even more ways to create- from pottery, drawing and Design Technology to crochet, All Things Yarn and Lego Builders.

There is something transformative about standing in front of an audience and knowing you can hold the room.

Drama at Dolphin gives children that opportunity again and again- through LAMDA, dance, assemblies and our spectacular summer productions, where singing, dancing and acting come together on a scale that feels genuinely special.

Recent productions have included Matilda, Aladdin, The Lion King, The Adventures of Robin Hood and Hard Knock Life. These are not simply school plays. They are ambitious, collaborative productions in which children experience the thrill of working towards something bigger than themselves.

And the impact goes far beyond the stage. Children learn to communicate, listen, collaborate, respond and, sometimes, simply find the courage to step forward.

Dolphin is an innovative school, and we believe children should have the opportunity to experience the excitement of creating something that did not exist before.

Design Technology celebrates the design process, problem solving and the engineering of new products. These principles are embedded within our science curriculum, giving children the opportunity to move from an idea to a solution and understand how creativity, scientific thinking and engineering work together.

Twice a year, we take this even further with two dedicated Design Technology Days. For two full days, the normal timetable is set aside and children immerse themselves in ambitious design projects, developing ideas, testing possibilities, solving problems and creating something of their own.

In a world that increasingly celebrates innovation, these days give children the perfect opportunity to experience it for themselves.

And for those who discover a particular passion for design and making, the opportunities continue beyond the normal curriculum through clubs such as Design Technology, The Inventors, Building Blocks and Coding with Minecraft.

Confidence comes first

We are ambitious for every child, but we know that confidence comes before performance.

When children feel known, secure and encouraged, they are much more willing to have a go. They can make mistakes without fear, try something unfamiliar and discover abilities they did not know they had.

That might be a child finding a love of music, exhibiting their first artwork, taking a leading role or simply standing on stage for the first time.

Every child should have the chance to discover their moment.

At Dolphin, the arts help children develop the imagination to create, the discipline to improve and the confidence to be seen.
